In July and August the queue at the Ephesus upper gate regularly runs twenty to forty minutes before you have even set foot in the city. On a cruise day that is a fifth of your time ashore spent looking at the back of someone's head. Our guests never join it.

The shape of the day

Your driver collects you from your hotel or the port; your guide meets you with the plan already tuned to the day’s crowds. We usually enter from the upper gate and walk downhill — through the state agora, along Curetes Street past the Temple of Hadrian, into the Library of Celsus square, and finish in the Great Theatre. Four hours sounds long; nobody has ever told us it was. If mobility is a concern, tell us — the downhill route exists for a reason, we know every shaded bench on it, and we have written up how far a wheelchair actually gets at Ephesus.

The Terrace Houses are a separate entrance ticket and genuinely worth it. Say the word when you book and we add it to the tickets we collect for you, so you walk into those too without queueing; otherwise decide at the door on the day, never at a checkout page.

Lunch afterwards is included in the price. From 2026 every tour of ours that visits Ephesus finishes at a proper table — mezes, hot bread off the griddle, a main, çay — rather than leaving you to find something near the car park. Here is what that hour looks like.

How long should we plan for Ephesus?

Are entrance tickets included?

The ticket price is not inside the tour fee, but we handle the tickets for you. Gezginol holds an agency priority pass, so we buy them in advance and your guide arrives holding them — you skip the ticket queue and enter through the priority lane, paying only the official Ministry price with nothing added by us.

Can we start early to avoid crowds?

Yes, and please do. In cruise season we suggest meeting at opening time; the difference between 8:30 and 10:30 on Curetes Street is roughly two thousand people.
